“Gardening for the Greater Good”

Aware NCK announces a new food share program “Gardening for the Great Good.” This is a collaborative effort between Aware NCK and the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation to increase the education and consumption of locally produced healthy foods. We are encouraging local gardeners to drop off any excess fruits or vegetables to one of the 4 drop off locations.

Anyone is welcome to drop off, pick up, or exchange produce at any site. The sites will be monitored to ensure freshness as well as increase distribution to venues such as friendship meals, food pantry, kids café, or the senior center.

Drop off Locations:
NCK Wellness Center (3033 U.S. Hwy. 24, Beloit, KS)
Community Garden (City of Beloit North Campus, 1723 N. Hersey)
Health Department (310 W. 8th Street, Beloit, KS)
Beloit Municipal Building (119 N. Hersey Avenue, Beloit, KS)

“We are extremely excited about this new food share program,” said Shelby Bohnert, MCRMF Development Director. “The distribution process will connect food and patrons and help to prevent food waste.”
