Each year, the Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems (MCHHS) Auxiliary is proud to offer scholarship awards to support the next generation of healthcare professionals. These scholarships are made possible thanks to the dedication of the Auxiliary ladies, whose commitment to maintaining the MCHHS Gift Shop and the Economy Shop ensures that these funds are available for local students. Residents of the North Central Kansas area who are enrolled full- or part-time in an approved post–high school program in a health-related field are encouraged to apply.
The Medical Foundation is currently awarding a legacy scholarship in memory of Carl Jordan, Jim Nothern and Denis Shumate. Applicants must be residents of Mitchell, Jewell, Lincoln, Cloud, or Osborne County. Students should be pursuing a healthcare related field (e.g., medicine, nursing, mental health, occupational therapy, physical therapy, radiology, clinical laboratory or healthcare related fields) and or advancing medical certifications. Preference is given to post-secondary and non-traditional students. Applicants must demonstrate good character, citizenship, and leadership.
The Medical Foundation is currently awarding scholarships through a generous gift from a portion of the Melvin File Estate. Mr. File believed giving a gift to Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems would be the best way to benefit the community as a whole. In honor of his thoughtfulness, the hospital and the Foundation work together to offer a scholarship to students interested in pursuing a medical career.
In grateful recognition of the generous estate gift from Jim and Louise Sutton, the Medical Foundation is proud to offer a nursing scholarship in Jim and Louise's memory. Louise, a dedicated registered nurse who spent her entire career at the Beloit Medical Center, attended the Marymount School of Nursing in Salina, where she earned her degree. This scholarship honors her lifelong commitment to patient care and inspires future generations of nurses.
This scholarship provides financial assistance to a non-traditional (not a current high school senior) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) residing in north central Kansas who is seeking to complete their Registered Nurse (RN) degree or above. The scholarship is renewable for a second year, contingent upon satisfactory academic progress and funding availability.
